Athens 2004

My third consecutive Paralympics and I'm now starting to feel like a veteran of the squad, even at the age of 24. There were a lot of new young athletes at these games which is great to see for the future of the sport.
Our holding camp was in Cyprus, staying in a luxurious hotel in Pathos and for the first time every personal coaches were allowed to the holding camp, which was a big help.
I hadn't qualified for the discus this time which I wasn't to happy about, but it meant I could focus 100% on the club and I knew it was going to be even tougher than usual as the points table was going to be used for the first time in a Paralympics. My competition has always been combined with another disability class (the classification system is explained in the disability sport section), and the points system has been brought in to make it easier to combine classes.
I was unusually relaxed up to the competiton, apart from when my equipment went missing and I couldn't train for two days. It was another long competition and I won it with my second throw of 33m 53cm, a new world record (link to results)
