'We've rehersed this all week'

Cerebral Palsy Sport set me up for a great career in athletics and give so many people with cerebral palsy the opportunity to take part in sport, so I thought I'd give something back and hold a fundraising night in aid of them. Best of all, for the first time it would be a night based around me. Held on the 30th of March at the Benedictine Social Club in Cramlington. My good friend Ian Payne from Tyne Tees TV agreed to compare the night and the hilarious Bendan Healy also supported me on the night.

Things started slowly as a few people, including Ian, got lost in the roundabout town of Cramlington. But as they say, it'll be alright on the night and once we got over some technical issues with the DVD quiz, the night got going and we had lots of fun and laughs.

'Here are my life support systems'

I brought along as much of my memorabilia as possible from my 10 year international career for people to see. Including my two throwing frames, which I often tell airports that they are my life support systems to make sure they get on the plane. We had two quizes on the night, Ian's sports quiz which was won by Northumberland Sport who kindly donated their winnings back to the charity, and the Stephen Miller quiz that was all about yours truely. The winner, Scott Renee, got one of my international vests and an official Athens 2004 Paralympic GB t-shirt.
