22nd June - DSE Nationals and Beijing Selection
A lot has happened since my last update, after the Paralympic World
Cup I got my head down and got a few weeks of hard work in up to
the British Open at Manchester. The British Open was a competition
I really wanted to do even though I wasn't fully fit, I wanted to
go and compete. I managed to win the club with 30.56 metres and
claim silver in the discus with a season's best of 15.23 metres
which I was pleased with. All in all it was a solid days work and
gave me confidence because I performed well despite being less than
fully fit - I know there is plenty more to come!
Shortly after the British Open I got the news that I had been selected
as part of the GB team for the Beijing Paralympics. I have to be
honest and say that I expected to be select for the club but it's
still nice to hear the words and get confirmation. It's a massive
honour to represent Great Britain and the prospect of competing
in my fourth games is very exciting.
The next few weeks are important in the build up to Beijing and
I'll be putting in a decent shift for the next month. My next competition
is the CP Nationals on 19th July so I'm looking for another consistent
performance there
